The Pilates Chair, also known as the Wunda Chair, was originally designed by Joseph Pilates (1883-1967) as a home exercise equipment (doubles as a living-room chair for small New York apartments). A simple piece of equipment the Chair consists of a seat, a pedal and springs that attach to the pedal (to adjust the resistance).
We all know that spending too much time sitting in chairs is bad for us.
Our backs hurt, our shoulders and necks are crying, our hips are aching and getting up from that prolonged sitting can be an uncomfortable (or even a difficult) endeavour…
A Chair Class might sound strange. But, it's not the chair or even sitting that is actually harmful for us.
Joe Pilates witnessed the changes of how people work and move in their lives back in the 1930s. In his writings he warned about the health risks and repercussions of sitting at the desk all day. Pilates designed different pieces of apparatus to get people moving with his Body Contrology system to combat the effects of the sedentary life style he saw emerging.
Intimate classes of only 3 participants utilise the Pilates Chair to facilitate and help navigate your body through the Pilates movement system.
Challenge your balance, stability, core engagement & muscle activation as you sit, lie or stand on the chair (or next to it). You will work your lower & upper body against the spring-resistance pedal.
You will feel Wunda-Full at the end of this special and unique class.
